Pupils at Vergina High School in Larnaca on Friday decided to abstain indefinitely from class as of Monday in protest against the lack of proper heating at classrooms.

The latest decision by the some 580 pupils follows an hour’s abstention from class on Wednesday for the same exact reason.

On behalf of the parents association, Costas Costa told CNA that the heating problem remains unresolved, in addition to other operational issues pending for a long time.

He repeated that school authorities have dragged their feet, failing to take prompt action at the expense of the health and safety of the pupils.
