Police seize 8.5 kilos of cocaine in Limassol, 5.58 kilos of cannabis in Nicosia

Anti narcotics officers have made two drug busts — one in Limassol where they seized  8.5 kilos of cocaine and one in Nicosia where they found 5.6 kilos of cannabis.

A total of four people were arrested.

Three were arrested in Limassol on Wednesday afternoon in connection with the cocaine.

Acting on a tip off, police stopped a 48 year old man from Greece permanent resident of Limassol on a motorbike and found 8.6 kilos of cocaine in the bag he was carrying.

They then arrested a 38 year old Greek Cypriot man and his wife, a 32 year old Russian national, who allegedly supplied the drugs.

All three are expected to appear before Limassol district court today to be remanded in custody.

In a separate operation at 3.10 pm on Wednesday in Nicosia police searched the car of a 44 year old man and found 1 kilo of cannabis.

They then searched his home and found another 4.588 kilos of cannabis and precision scales and he too was arrested.
