Chief of police Zacharias Chrysostomou will meet the President today following pressures to resign over alleged police mishandling of the disappearances of women who were killed by a 35 year old suspected serial killer.
According to philenews, Chrysostomou will tender his resignation to the President. The focus of their meeting will be the manner in which the resignation will be announced.
Philenews writes that the President himself asked for the Chief to be paused.
On Thursday, the President accepted Justice Minister Ionas Nicolaou’s resignation.
Nicolaou and Chrysostomou have faced a chorus of calls to resign over police’s botched handling of women reported as missing and later found murdered.
