January 22, 2019 at 1:00pm

Police said they found three grams of cannabis in the bag of a 16 year old student who was arrested on Monday in a Paphos lyceum on suspicion of being involved in drug dealing.

During the school’s break on Monday morning,  two men whom the Drug Enforcement Unit (YKAN) had been following, entered the schoolyard in a saloon car.

YKAN officers searched the car and found 27 grams of cannabis, a grinder and a scale inside.

They arrested the men aged 21 and 22, along with the 16 year old who was in the car with them.

The three were remanded in custody for three days by Paphos District Court on Tuesday.

The issue of drug dealing in the city’s schools has been known to authorities and the School Board for a long time, Paphos School Board president Michalis Charalambous told philenews. He added that the Board asked the State to place guards in certain schools, where they have information that drug-dealing takes place.
