Nicosia’s Municipal Council has voted by majority to retain C. Pantelides street, which links Eleftheria Square with Solomou Square and the bus terminal, car free.

The decision — with three abstentions and one vote against — follows calls from initiative groups urging the municipality to keep to its initial plans and prohibit vehicles on the street.

One of these groups “No to cars in Eleftheria Square” said that the campaign will continue so that Rigenis and  Paleologou streets are also pedestrianised.
