Paphos A&E staff strop strike action

November 6, 2018 at 9:43am

Doctors and nursing staff at Paphos’ accident and emergency unit announced that they will stop their strike actions after Health Ministry officials said that they will send an additional doctor to staff the unit in the next days.

Paphos A&E staff said that the deadline for the Ministry to fulfill its promise is 15 days. If it fails to meet it, they will re-commence strike action.

The medical staff started abstaining from work, on November 1, for two days every day – at 12.30 pm to 2.30 pm on weekdays and from 6.30 pm to 8.30 pm on weekends.

They decided to act because of the large increase in the number of cases they have had to handle, while vacancies remain unfilled, they said.
