Four green points established in Limassol

November 8, 2018 at 12:51pm

Four ‘green points’ have been established in the Limassol, where residents can unload bulky recyclable household waste for free, Mesa Geitonia mayor Doros Antoniou said.

The green points which located in the communities of Fasoula, Kolossi, Avdimou and Pareklisia, have been in operation since September 28, Antoniou said.

“A new step is being taken towards the rational management of household recyclable materials,” he said.

At the green points, people can unload: debris, tiles, bulky waste such as furniture and mattresses, electrical waste and electronic equipment, tree prunings, plastic, paper, glass, aluminium, textiles, toys, x-rays, thermometers, medicines, lamps, cleaning materials, paints and glues, edible oils and fats, engine oils, vehicle batteries and common batteries.

The four green points are open every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at specific times according to each season, while a mobile green point for Limassol’s villages is also in operation.

“We cannot continue unconsciously dumping our useless objects on sidewalks or in empty fields, expecting municipalities to pick them up,” Antoniou said, urging Limassol residents to use the green points.
