Boat with 29 Syrian refugees arrives in Protaras

An inflatable boat with Syrian refugees arrived in Protaras on Friday, the Cyprus News Agency reported.

It said that at around 12.50, police radars picked up the inflatable boat southeast of Cape Greco in Protaras.

The coastguard sent a police launch to the area and accompanied the boat to Ayios Nicolaos fishing shelter in Protaras.

It said boat had come from Lebanon. On board were  Syrian refugees — 14 men, six women and nine children and infants.

The refugees are being processed by authorities and will then be transferred to the reception centre at Kokkinotrimithia.
