A 15-year-old pupil who was found unconscious in a Limassol park on Saturday, October 27 after he used LSD and cannabis will be admitted to a rehabilitation centre, Phileleftheros reported.

The pupil is still hospitalised.

Drug Law Enforcement Unit spokesman Stelios Sergides told Phileleftheros that the case has two sides: “One is the human side of the case and the help we must provide to the minor and the other is the legal side of the case.”

Sergides added that the pupil’s parents said that they were not aware that their son was a user and seemed positive about the possibility of enrolling him to a rehabilitation programme.

Regarding the legal side of the case, the police spokesman noted that the 15-year-old said that he bought the drugs from the internet and that authorities are now investigating whether his claim is true.

Another young man has been approached in connection with the case and and is expected to testify.

Sergides said that drug users increasingly use the internet and police is concentrating its efforts to identify websites that sell drugs.

The 15-year-old was found unconscious in a park in Yermasoyia. After regaining consciousness, he admitted that he had used cannabis and LSD and that he had a stash of drugs hidden in his bedroom.

With the written consent of his father, the police searched the boy’s bedroom and confiscated 20 LSD papers.
