The parents of an eight year old girl reported missing by her father and later found at the house of the mother’s friend will answer charges of child neglect and giving false information to police on February 13, philenews reports.

The two — both foreign nationals — were arrested yesterday, hours after the child was found safe and in good health. They appeared in court today and were released.

The eight year old had been reported missing by her father at noon on Monday. He told police that she had left a house of a neighbour the previous afternoon but never came home.

According to reports from Limassol, it later emerged that the father had taken the girl to the friend’s house and that the mother had also been informed.

The child is currently in the care of the social services.
