Police are investigating a kiosk owner who is believed to have stolen €33,194 worth of electricity over a period of 7.5 years.

According to philenews, the Electricity Authority reported the case to the police last Tuesday.

However, the issue first came to their notice last October, when Electricity Authority employees found that two electricity meters at the kiosk had been tampered with.

After further investigation they came to the conclusion that between April 11, 2011 to October 17, 2018 the meters had not been working properly.

According to their estimates, the amount of electricity used during the period would normally cost €33,194.

The kiosk owner was called in for questioning and has been charged in writing.
