A fire that started on Saturday, October 3 between the villages of Lofou and Agios Therapon, Limassol, has been set under control, according to the Fire Department.
The fire broke out at 23:14 in gorges in a difficult to access area.
It burned a total area of about 1 1/2 km2 of dry grass, wild vegetation and a number of trees.
Seventeen Fire Department and Civil defense vehicles, three helicopters and an SBA aircraft are at the scene, while reinforcement is on the way.
Firefighting forces will stay there during the night to fully extinguish the fire.
So far, no villages are in danger.
The Alassa – Agios Therapon and Platres – Lofos roads are closed for the the public.
Authorities urge drivers to be careful.
