During a long meeting yesterday, the Achna community council decided with a majority of 6 to 2 to accept an Israeli company’s proposal to open a crocodile park in the area. At the same time, however, the council decided to convene a community-wide gathering on Friday 27th of May in order to fully inform the residents on the reasons behind this decision.
A source, avoiding specific details, said that ‘everything will be said in the community-wide meeting’ and that ‘the park will be set up in Achna (in the area of Ppolisti)’.
The source also mentioned that the park will be an investment of around six million dollars and that the community asked and received legal documents providing financial and other safeguards.
It is worth reporting that before the agreement with the Achna community the Israelis had been rejected by the communities of Psevmatismenos and the Athienou.
