Burglars have made off with fur coats reportedly worth some €200,000 from a Limassol shop, the third such incident islandwide in recent weeks and the second in Limassol.

Limassol police deputy spokesman Marinos Vasiliou said that the owner of the shop, a 57 year old Greek, had reported the burglary at around 4 am on Friday.

Vasiliou said that a large number of fur coats had been stolen. The owner said that some 50 fur coats were missing and put their value at some €200,000, cost price. The shop was insured.

Vasiliou said that it appeared that two individuals had driven to the shop in a dark coloured SUV, broken the metal shutter and gained access into the shop through the front door. They left three minutes later with the fur coats, he said.

He said CCTV footage is being examined.
