Cypriot Minister of Defence Savvas Angelides is flying to Alexandia, Egypt, on Wednesday, at the invitation of Egyptian Minister of Defence Colonel General Mohamed Zaki, to watch the final phase of aeronautical exercise “Medusa 8”, along with his counterparts of Greece and Egypt.

In a press release, the Ministry of Defence says the participation of Cyprus, Greece and Egypt in a joint aeronautical exercise lends a new dimension and dynamic to the relationship of the three countries, in a time when Cyprus’ sovereignty and the exercising of its sovereign rights in its exclusive economic zone are being questioned.

It adds that the joint exercise is being carried out in the framework of trilateral cooperation between the three countries, with an aim to establish peace, security, prosperity and growth in the region of the Eastern Mediterranean.
