Members of the Movement for the Right to Shelter prevented the sale of a seized property to bidders on Tuesday morning.

According to CNA, members of the movement gathered in the auction hall in Ypsonas and managed to arrange for the property to be sold to family of the initial owners.

“The house was bought by a relative in order to stay in the family and an arrangement will be struck between the relatives,” Marinos Alkiviades said on behalf of the movement and urged citizens to “stand by their side” to prevent future foreclosures of first properties.

CNA reports that tension rose in the auction hall when a bidder submitted his offer, who then withdraw from the process.
