Cabinet has approved a €35 m expansion of Latchi fishing shelter aiming to attract nautical tourism and cater for recreational boats.
Polis Chrysochous Mayor Yiotis Papachristofi said that expansion will be carried out in in the northern and eastern side of the coastline and will effectively triple the available space for boats. He said that the entrance and exit gates will be upgraded and new fuel facilities installed.
Papachristofi welcomed the development, stressing that with the upgrade the fishing shelter can become a power engine for the local economy and boost tourism in the Chrysochou area, both in terms of the number and quality of visitors.
The upgrade has been a long standing demand of the municipality and comes 15 years after the most recent work on site.
