Ayia Napa to elect new mayor on January 12

Elections for a new mayor of Ayia Napa to succeed newly appointed Transport Minister Yiannis Karousos will be held on January 12, 2020.

The central election office said that the Interior Minister has set the date for the elections for January 12 and appointed Famagusta district officer as chief returning officer.

Candidacies must be submitted by December 30. A total of 3334 voters have the right to participate in the elections of whom 2687 are Cypriots and 647 nationals of other EU countries.
