Water from Turkish pipeline starts to flow

The distribution of water from the Turkish Water Pipeline project in Cyprus has begun in parts of the island.

On Monday, Famagusta was the first to receive the water and according to reports, Morphou (Guzelyurt) will receive water on Tuesday followed by the local councils which have signed up to the agreement.

An official from the agriculture office told media that water had reached the depots in Dikomo (Dikmen) on Monday and was being distributed to parts of Famagusta.

The head of the local council in Famagusta, Ismail Arter said that at present they were uncertain whether or not the water coming to taps in the town was from Turkey or not as they had received water from Dikomo previously. He added however the area would be getting water daily.
