US rep in Geneva to attend Cyprus conference opening

The US State Department says the country’s permanent representative to the UN will be present at the start of the Cyprus conference, adding they are satisfied with the ongoing meetings in Geneva so far.

“We anticipate that our permanent representative at the United Nations in Geneva will attend the opening meeting of the conference, which is being hosted by the United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres,” a State Department official told CNA.

The official added that the US remain satisfied with the ongoing efforts of the two Cypriot leaders to reunite the island in a bizonal, bicommunal federation, which would benefit all Cypriots as well as the wider region.
