The bicommunal initiative Unite Cyprus Now is calling on people to join their events in the buffer zone to send a message to Cypriot leaders to find a solution reuniting the island.
The initiative is calling people to join their dance party on Friday at 7 pm to show how “Dance Unites Cyprus”. An event which will see DJs Ahmet Arik and Ummuhan Gokpinar playing Tango, salsa, rock’n roll and pop songs to get people dancing for the reunification of the island.
The initiative is also organising a human chain event on Saturday morning at 10am. It is a repetition of the event they had organised before the leaders attended the meeting with UN General Secretary Antonio Guterres in New York.
Unite Cyprus Now has been organising a daily event in the buffer zone between the Ledra Street and Lokmaci crossing points for the past three weeks urging the leaders to find a solution.
An announcement issued by Unite Cyprus Now said it is pleased with the results from the New York meeting, and noted that they are expecting an agreement from the Geneva conference.
The initiative invites every Cypriot to “feel the magic of a United Cyprus”.
“The #UniteCyprusNow group has been created by Cypriots to show our determination not to let this last opportunity to reunite our country slip away. We also call on all individuals, groups, political parties and initiatives to work towards building an island of cooperation and coexistence and support the peace process,” said the initiative.
