The University of Cyprus (UCY) is the only university on the island to rank among the top 200 European universities according to the latest Times Higher Education World University Rankings.
In a press release, the university said that “the ranking is confirmation of the excellence of the University of Cyprus”.
It is the second year in a row that the university has ranked in positions 180-190 of the list.
Along with the University of Crete, the University of Cyprus are the only Greek-language universities to rank among the top 200 in Europe.
It is worth noting that the number of universities and higher institutions in Europe is over 6,000.
UCY Rector Constandinos Christofides expressed pride regarding the university’s achievement.
“All of us will continue to work hard, so that the University of Cyprus can continue to grow in research and education, and to make our vision a reality: to reach the top 100 universities of Europe, and the top 200 universities in the world,” he said.
