Turkish media report new incident in the Imia region

Turkish Media claim that there was a new incident in the Imia region on Friday when a Greek military vessel under the name “Aititos” entered Turkish territorial waters.

The vessel is said to have left from Leros before entering Turkish waters near the island Volos (Catal).

Turkish media reported that the Greek vessel came face to face with Turkish coastguard vessels which were in the region. A Turkish patrol vessel has supposedly cut off the Greek military vessel and did not permit it to enter Turkish waters. According to the reports the tension ended after 15 minutes with the Greek boat departing for Pserimos.

Same sources claim that the Turkish coastguard prevented another Greek vessel who had left from Kalolimnos for the Imia region.
