Tunnel maintenance to slow down traffic next week

Drivers going through the Limassol-Paphos tunnel will need to go easy on the gas next week, as the right lanes in both directions will be closed due to emergency maintenance.

The Transport Ministry issued an announcement on Monday detailing a number of road closures or construction zones, urging drivers to be cautious and plan ahead before taking the highway.

On Tuesday, January 31, both east and west bound right lanes in the Limassol-Paphos tunnel will be closed and there will be no electric lights between 6pm and 5am the following morning. The speed limit will be enforced at 50 kilometres per hour and SBA Police patrol cars will be in the area.

A small section of the east-bound right lane, going from Paphos to Limassol, will also close on Thursday, February 2, between 10am and 1pm. Traffic will be directed to use the left lane at lower speeds during maintenance of electrical equipment.
