Treasury stops issuing cheques for salary payments

As part of the general drive to modernise government, the Cyprus Treasury will stop issuing cheques as a means of paying salaries in the public sector.

Starting June 2017, all salaries will be delivered via bank transfers, according to an announcement by the Press and Information Office.

In its announcement, the Treasury adds that it will double down on efforts to “further modernise the public sector, applying modern practices in financial management and auditing.”
