Tourist living large on stolen credit card arrested

A 27-year-old man has been arrested in connection with credit card fraud with the suspect having allegedly spent €5,898 appears on hotels throughout Cyprus.

The man, who is not a local resident, is accused of obtaining services under false pretences, after JCC Payments’ Fraud Prevention unit got wind of the big spender’s activities.

Initial investigation has shown that the credit card belonged to a customer of a foreign bank.

It is believed that someone hacked into the system and illegally obtained private information, which was then used to obtain services illegally.
