Police in Paphos say a man has died after going swimming in what has been described by witnesses as ‘choppy waters’.
Details of the victim have not yet been disclosed by police other than he is a male tourist. The unconscious body was dragged out of the sea by swimmers close to a hotel situated in the Tomb of the Kings area of Paphos.
He was rushed to Paphos General Hospital where he was declared dead-on-arrival. Witnesses told police that the waters had been choppy on Saturday
An autopsy will take place on Sunday to officially confirm if his death was due to drowning or due to other reasons.
