Revenue from tourism in Cyprus marked an increase of 15.3% in June 2017, compared to the same month in 2016. It also registered an increase of almost 20% in the first six months of the year.
According to the Statistical Service of the Republic of Cyprus, on the basis of the results of the Passenger Survey, revenue from tourism reached €347.2 mn in June 2017 compared to €301 mn in the corresponding month of the previous year, recording an increase of 15.3%.
For the period of January – June 2017 revenue from tourism is estimated at €996.4 mn compared to €831.2 mn in the corresponding period of 2016, recording an increase of 19.9%.
Expenditure per person for June 2017 reached €734.89 compared to €728.53 in the corresponding month of the previous year, recording an increase of 0.9%. The expenditure per person/per day for June 2017 compared to June 2016 also recorded an increase of 0.9%.
In June 2017 a decrease of 5.4% was recorded for expenditure per person for tourists from the United Kingdom (from €801.38 in June 2016 to €757.96 in June 2017), 10.8% increase in tourists from Russia (from €691.98 to €766.39 this year) and 27.6% increase in tourists from Israel (from €497.22 to €634.41 this year).
Expenditure per person/per day for tourists from the United Kingdom recorded a decrease of 0.5% (from €78.57 in June 2016 to €78.14 in June 2017), the expenditure per person/per day for tourists from Russia increased by 0.6% (from €77.75 to €78.20) and for tourists from Israel it also increased by 0,6% (from €121.27 to €122.00).
