One of the latest additions in Larnaca’s up and coming Ermou Square is the stylish all day bar The Point. It is open seven days a week, from 8 am, serving coffee, fresh juice, teas and sweets such as anari cream with fresh strawberries marinated in masticha liquer and homemade walnut pie. Go for your lunch break at midday for a menu based on Greek and Mediterranean cuisine featuring some staple dishes such as thickly cut pork with verde sauce, homemade burger and ravioli with sun dried tomatoes, Commandaria and basil and refreshing salads such as that garnished with salmon, avocado, spinach and wasabi dressing and carrot salad with lountza fresh manouri cheese and black sesame.
Don’t forget to ask them what the plat de jour is. In the evening the scene changes, with barmen making both classic and also their own signature cocktails. If you do not want a main dish but some snacks to accompany the wine, look at the appetizers on the menu. Options include bruschetta, shrimp saganaki, fresh sauté cherry tomatoes, Kythira oil buns, feta and fresh basil, pancetta marinated in soya and baked slowly in the oven, served with honey, sesame and Greek pita.
There’s also cheese and charcuterie platters. Finally the wine list includes mostly Cypriot and Greek labels, and some choices from the rest of the world.
