The International Championship of the Herodotou Tennis Academy TE-U16 was set to wrap up on Saturday in both boys’ and girls’ categories.
According to a Cyprus Tennis Federation announcement, the championship, comprised of 10 players from 10 countries ranked in the high Grade 2 category, has seen particular successes for the island.
The doubles final was a Cypriot affair with Christos Abraham and Matia Matic beating Photios Fotiadis and Stefanos Savvas 6-4, 6-1 in two hard-won sets.
In the corresponding final for the girls’ doubles, the winners were Bostarenko and Mamayi from Russia.
Saturday’s finals will see Sergios Kyzas and Matia Matic face off for the boys’ singles title, while Eleni Louka will bid to add to Cypriot laurels in the girls’ final by taking on Maria Boudarenko.
