TC livestock breeders to take direct action

The head of the Turkish Cypriot livestock breeders union Mustafa Naimogullari has criticised the help plan announce by the coalition, saying that his members are to take industrial action starting from Monday without giving any further information on the type or time of action.

Naimogullari said that the 2017 Agricultural Support Packet presented to be a new program, however the package is not an improvement compared with older programs but it actually contains cuts to the budget allocated previously.

He said that the support package proposed from the coalition is not enough to cover the increases of prices on food products and stressed that the livestock producers are bankrupt.

The head of the livestock breeders accused the coalition of “incompetence and ignorance” and said that the breeders will take action from next week but will not disclose when and what kind of action will be taken.
