A suspected drug dealer from Limassol is in police custody after ramming his vehicle into a police patrol car in a desperate attempt to escape arrest.
The 34-year-old suspect slammed on the accelerator upon seeing a police patrol car block the road in front of him after being initially flagged down to pull over on Sunday.
Anti-Drug Squad Police (YKAN) officers say the incident occurred in the Kolossi area of Limassol with the suspect’s vehicle coming to crashing halt after he attempted to barge its way through the police car.
During a search of the man’s car, police found around a kilo of cannabis, several mobile telephones and cash. He was immediately placed under arrest.
A search of the man’s home followed with officers discovering a further 730 grams of cannabis and an electronic weighing scale.
He is expected to appear before a Limassol magistrate on Monday.
