What: Saint Joan – NT Live
When: Tuesday, 23 May
Where: THOC New Theatre Building, 9 Gregori Afxentiou, Nicosia.

Saint Joan tells the story of the young Joan of Arc, presenting this powerful historical figure as a daughter, farm girl, visionary, patriot, king-whisperer, soldier, leader, victor, icon, radical, witch, heretic, saint, martyr and finally woman.

From the torment of the Hundred Years’ War, the charismatic Joan of Arc carved a victory that defined France. Bernard Shaw’s classic play depicts a woman with all the instinct, zeal and transforming power of a revolutionary.

Directed by Josie Rourke, the play stars Gemma Arterton as Joan of Arc in this electrifying masterpiece. Highly recommended by top UK media outlets, the play shows that Shaw’s observations about class, religion and gender are still relevant.

Arterton’s performance has been described as “radiantly persuasive” and “luminescent”.

The screening will start at 8.30pm on May 23 and tickets cost Tickets: €10 / €6 (unemployed, pensioners with the demonstration of the appropriate document and all persons under the age of 25 with the demonstration of their Identity Card).
