Criminals in Paphos broke through the walls of an empty shop to reach the jewellery shop next door.
According to the police, the burglars got away with a number of pieces of silver jewellery of unknown value, but were not able to reach the gold pieces kept in a safe at the Chlorakas shop.
The jewellery shop’s alarm went off at 4am on Tuesday, alerting the owner and the police.
- One arrested, another sought in jewellery store heist
- Homeowner robbed of €135k in cash and jewellery
- Cash and jewellery stolen in Aradippou
Investigations so far indicate that the burglars broke-in through the back door of the empty shop next door, which had previously been a branch of the Chlorakas Co-op Bank.
They then smashed down the adjoining wall to reach the jewellery shop.
There are also indications the burglars had tried to disable the shop’s alarm system before entering.
