Recycling scheme relaunching in Geroskipou

Geroskipou’s recycling programme is set to resume on Friday, September 15, according to a Municipality announcement.

As part of efforts to reduce the waste destined for the Marathonas landfill, the Municipality has sealed a deal with Green Dot Cyprus to collect recyclable materials at  designated points in central Geroskipou, at which locals will be able to make drop-offs.

The scheme will be implemented as a pilot programme until the end of the year, to allow for evaluation and improvement. Thereafter, and depending on the conclusions drawn, the recycling programme will continue to be implemented, upon the joint agreement of the Municipality and Green Dot.

The drop-off points, added to the announcement, will offer blue bins for the collection of PMD-class recyclables (plastic containers and bottles, metal packaging and drink cartons), brown bins for paper and the easily-recognisable green bell-shaped bins for glass.

For more information, members of the public can contact the Health Service of the Municipality of Geroskipou at 26962324 and 26961400 during office hours.
