Property sales VAT vote postponed until September

The vote for the 19% VAT on immovable property sales has been postponed until September.

According to DIKO MP Angelos Votsis, in spite of the stated position of the Legal Service that the law must be voted immediately to avoid EU fines, on Monday it changed its position saying that there is still time to make some final deliberations.

Votsis added that the final opinion of the European Commission is expected on the law in September, before the bill is put up for voting.
