Although no immediate need has been determined, the security details for Paphos Mayor Fedonas Fedonos will be beefed up according to police.
The decision was taken by the Police Headquarters Security Committee following the testimony of Fedonos involving 30 cases of mismanagement of Turkish Cypriot property.

Police believe that since the nature of the testimony given by Fedonos could have far reaching effects on various interests it was considered necessary to increase the Mayor’s security detail.
The measures include additional patrols around the Mayor’s residence and the Town Hall while undercover patrols have not been ruled out.
Fedonos has given police information regarding the mismanagement of 30 Turkish Cypriot properties including names of people abusing the use of the properties as well as the identity of officials in relevant committees who acted improperly.
The police have indicated that they have requested the relevant files regarding the properties mentioned by Fedonas and that investigations into the Mayor’s claims are under way
