The docking of the Italian Navy Sailing Ship “Palinuro” at Larnaca is a testament to the close military ties between Cyprus and Italy according to Defence Minister Christoforos Fokaides.
The ‘Palinuro’ docked at Larnaca port on Monday morning during its 3rd Chief Petty Officer training course for the cadets of the Italy’s Taranto Naval Academy and comes on the heels of a visit by the Italian Defence Minister Roberta Pinotti to the island at the end of July.

Fokaides’ visit to the Palinuro on Wednesday was followed by a lunch hosted by Italy’s Ambassador to Cyprus Guido Cerboni.
Meetings to be held between Italian and Cypriot naval officers during the Palinuro’s stay in Cyprus are aimed at strengthening the bilateral military cooperation between the two countries.
The Palinuro is set to sail from Larnaca on September 1.
Members of the public who wish to visit the ship at its berth can do so at the following times:
– 30 August: between 10am -12pm and 4pm -7pm
– 31 August: between 10am -12pm and 4pm -7pm
