Nicosia man beaten, locked in car boot

Attempting to sort out financial differences with an acquaintance a Nicosia man instead saw himself savagely beaten up and locked in a car boot for hours.

The 25-year-old victim on Wednesday remained in hospital for treatment following his September 7 ordeal while one of two men suspected of the attack has been arrested.

According to the police, the 23-year-old suspect was arrested after the victim told Nicosia CID officers about his ordeal. The search continues for the second alleged assailant.

The victim has told police he went to a mechanic’s garage in the city to sort out some financial differences with its owner but instead found himself confronted by two men who beat him up and then locked him in the boot of a car.

Hours later, at around 5am on September 8, the victim managed to get out of the car and seek help at a nearby garage.
