Motorcyclist killed in Nicosia collision

A 71-year-old man died on Saturday after the motorcycle he was driving along a central Nicosia avenue collided with a car.

The victim has been named as Charalambos Frydas from Strovolos.

According  to the police, the accident happened on Digenis Akritas Avenue, at its junction with Demetsanis street.

The driver of the car involved in the accident, a 36-year-old woman, underwent and Alcotest at the scene and no alcohol was found in her system.

Frydas was rushed to Nicosia General Hospital but died during surgery, at around 3.20pm.

Investigations into the exact circumstances of the accident are continuing.
