A Russian tourist underwent emergency surgery for serious internal injuries on Sunday night after falling out of a hotel balcony in Oroklini.
According to police, the 30-year-old – who was described as being in a drunken state in the hours leading up to his plunge – is currently at Larnaca General Hospital nursing serious injuries to his neck, spine, lungs and hip.
His hotel was on the second floor.
At around 9.35pm, the call came in to police that a man was lying unconscious on a path leading to the pool hotel. Witnesses say that they had heard a loud thump moments earlier before discovering the tourist – who had arrived earlier that same day on the island – on the ground.
Police have so far ruled out far play while doctors have described his condition as “serious”.
