Man beaten over alleged Ayia Napa flirt

A man from Nicosia ended up in hospital this week after being beaten by the boyfriend of a girl he had been allegedly making moves on.

Police have released few details about the incident but did say that a 24-year-old Russian tourist has been remanded in police custody by the Famagusta District Court in Paralimni for six days in connection to charges relating to assault and causing grievous bodily harm.

The incident occurred on Tuesday but was not reported to police until Wednesday during which time the Russian holidaymaker was detained.

He and his girlfriend were staying in a hotel in Ayia Napa when the 47-year-old victim from Nicosia allegedly continued to make passes at the woman.

This in turn prompted the boyfriend to attack the victim. He was later treated in hospital for various injuries to his head.
