Two men were arrested in a case of illegal possession of drugs in Limassol.
According to a police announcement, on Friday afternoon members of the Drug Enforcement Agency (YKAN) stopped a car moving in an open area in Limassol.
The car’s driver was a 30-year-old man, with a 29-year-old in the passenger’s seat, both Limassol residents.
As soon as the car was stopped, the 29-year-old dashed out of the vehicle in an attempt to run away. The police fired warning shots, at which point he was stopped.
After searching the car, 1,110 grams of cannabis were found, along with a scale. In the area where the car was stopped, four containers containing cannabis were found, in total 630 grams.
Arrest warrants were secured for the two men, to allow for the full resolution of the case.
