The Carnival is a great popular festival which has been celebrated in Limassol and all over Cyprus for more than a hundred years.
What: Limassol Carnival 2017
When: Thursday, 16 February to Sunday, 26 February
Where: Multiple locations, Limassol.
Organised by the Municipality of Limassol, the festivities officially begin on February 16 with the Queen of the Carnival’s event, and culminates with the Grand Parade on February 26.
The rich programme of events includes a children’s choir concert at Pattihio Municipal Theatre on February 17; a city tour by train and a treasure hunt on February 18; a children’s carnival parade and a Serenaders’ Event on February 19.
Serenaders will sing in various locations around Limassol on February 20 and 21, along with the annual “Pellomaska” Parade and the Carnival Fiesta at the Medieval Castle Square on February 21. The Limassol Four Voice Men’s Choir will sing at ΤΡΑΚΑΣΟΛ Cultural Centre at Limassol Marina on February 22, followed by a carnival street party at University Square. On February 23 there will be an Evening Carnival Parade as well as a Carnival Ball at the Medieval Castle Square. February 24 will see a Serenaders’ evening with the participation of a number of choirs from around Cyprus. Various events will take place on February 25 including a Serenaders’ Parade.
Finally on February 26, the Grand Carnival Parade will begin at 1pm at Archbishop Makarios III Avenue, followed by a Farewell Carnival Fiesta at Old Port Square.
