Learning water lessons from the young (PICTURES)

School pupils on Monday put on traditional Cypriot dress and walked along Ledra and Onasagorou streets in Nicosia to remind people to use water responsibly.

The pupils carried boards with messages in the Cypriot dialect of Greek prompting people to remember they could make their cars shine with just a bucket of water and that they did not need to splash water everywhere when washing their hands.

They also reminded people to reuse the water used to wash plants and vegetables and to take showers instead of baths, among other messages.

The event was organised by the Water Development Board, Nicosia Municipality and Cyprus Marine Environment Protection Association (CYMEPA).

The pupils also made a stop at Phaneromeni Primary School in the Old Town of Nicosia.
