Limassol never ceases to amaze with its impressive newcomers on the scene. As you get inside Frankie’s Social, the new addition in town, you feel like you are in a Manhattan brasserie. The bar is impressive, the ceiling reaches up high, flooring is black and white, and the couches are long and narrow as you head right into the salon. Of course, all of this is part of an elegant fit with the dark wood, the blue electric on the walls, and ambient light. You ought to have dinner at Frankie’s Social. The menu is based on Mediterranean cuisine with an emphasis on flavours from northern Italy. There are frequent changes to the menu, every 2-3 weeks according to seasonal availability on main ingredients. There are dishes like beef Carpaccio, a selection of cold marinated fish, salads with seasonal vegetables, all of them lunchtime favourites. There are also pasta choices. When we went there a few weeks ago, we had nice pasta with pecorino and black cheese, and wonderful tagliatelle with fresh black truffle, fresh rosemary and chanterelle mushrooms. Prime steaks & chops with American, USDA-approved and Australian grass-fed meat are fixed items on the menu. There is also a catch of the day in fish choices. The wine list is filled with selections from different parts of the world, including Cyprus. You can go to Frankie’s for a drink either in the evening or in the afternoon just after work, for an apéritif. Bartenders serve classic cocktails, like Old Fashioned and Negroni, but with a Mediterranean twist, which goes well with the whole philosophy of the place. Open from 6pm. Closed on Mondays. 220 Arch. Makarios III, Limassol, 25 354 101.
