Explosions heard in Limassol no cause for alarm

Limassol police were inundated with calls from concerned residents on Tuesday morning after hearing numerous explosions in the area.

A spokesman for Limassol police, speaking on state radio CyBC on Tuesday morning said that the explosions were controlled explosions conducted by the British army in the Sovereign Base Area Akrotiri and involved the destruction of old munitions and there was no cause for alarm.
