An elderly hotel worker was attacked in an apparent armed robbery in the early hours of Thursday morning in Oroklini.
According Larnaca CID, the victim – said to be an 86-year-old Turkish Cypriot man – was attacked at around 2am as he was working at the hotel reception and robbed of €130. He was taken by ambulance to Larnaca General Hospital where he was treated for bruising, mainly to his arms.

The man described his attacker as being strong build and 1.85m tall who spoke with a Cypriot accent. He had arrived at the hotel in a small rental car.
Police say that the attacker – who had covered his face with the t-shirt he was wearing – entered the reception hall of the hotel, picked up a plank of wood from the room and then struck the victim, knocking him to the floor.
He then took €130 from the cash register. The incident was captured on CCTV.
