Drunk Oroklini man ends up in police cell

A man from Oroklini ended up in a police cell on Tuesday night on charges of disturbing the peace after getting himself into a drunken stupor.

Prior to being dragged to his police cell, the 34-year-old had been taken to Larnaca General Hospital where doctors administered a sedative after arresting officers struggled to contain him.

Officers from Oroklini police station had been called to an area close to the Digenis Oroklini clubhouse on Tuesday evening after reports came in that a man was staggering in the streets and disturbing the peace. He then began hurling abuse at officers who attempted to calm him down.

He will appear in court at a later date to answer charges of disturbing the peace, affray and swearing at police officers.
