A Nicosia man later found to be almost seven times over the legal alcohol limit was involved in a traffic accident that left his pregnant wife and their three-year-old daughter injured.
According to the police, the accident happened in Nicosia on Monday night as the 32-year-old and his family were travelling in Nicosia and also involved a second car, driven by a 37-year-old man.
An alco-test on the 32-year-old man at the scene found him with 150μg (micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath). The legal maximum limit in Cyprus is 22μg. Another carried out at a police station measured 134μg, still well over the legal limit.
The man’s daughter suffered a scull fracture and was on Tuesday being treated at Nicosia’s Makarios Hospital where his is also undergoing precautionary medical care.
Investigations are continuing.
